Maybe this should be a separate post, but also a "certified_fresh" boolean indicator would be nice, being one of the things that distinguishes the result set as being from Rotten Tomatoes.
+1 for average ratings. Actually, if it were implemented like the "Average" on the RT movie page, it would be something like "critics_average": 8 (or "8/10") and "audience_average" : 4 (or "4/5")
Checking back with this, nearly a year has passed and I would still very much like this feature. Having a score of 80% with an avarage rating of 7 isn't the same as having an 80% score with an avarage of 8. I'd like to be able to take this into account.
In addition, I would also like to be able to factor in the amount of reviews that a certain movie had. Movies with a low amount of reviewers are like to have scores that will still change. So I would be overjoyed if both of these features could be implemented under ratings, probably like this:
Hi everyone, wanted to give an update on this feature request (and other ones).
You can probably tell by the lack of responses in the feature requests forum that we have not been able to devote the amount of time that the Rotten Tomatoes API deserves. I can't make any promises as to when this feature (or others) will land, but know that we are monitoring these forums and have these feature requests written down on our roadmap. Personally, I very much want all these feature requests to get done, but current priorities dictate otherwise.
Right, well if nothing else I know what I'm up for. I had a nice algorithm thought out that should make a fairly accurate (I hope) prediction on the best movie in a group of movies based on these three ratings. I guess that will have to wait for now.
Could you also include the average critic and user ratings as well as the percentage scores?
Something like:
"ratings":{"critics_score":50,"critics_average":58,"audience_score":68,"audience_average:":59}

I would also like to use the critics average ratings, as they compare better against other ratings.

Bump! This is definitely a required feature.

+1 to what Bauer suggested. It would be great if we know if a movie was certified fresh or not on the movie search.

Any update on this? It's been almost five months and I have users asking for this functionality.

With that said, here's a cheap plug that Flixster is hiring http://www.flixster.com/about/jobs/ .
