Actor/Director/Producer search

  1. The API is great so far. Thank you :)

I have a need to do searches on Actor, Director and producer, so that I can allow users to click on an actor's name and get the movies that that actor has stared in as a result.

The same for Director and producer would be great.

Is there something like that in the current API, or is it still in development?
The data is available on the site.

    Thank you again.

    Hi Quinton,
This is planned, but not currently in development.

+1. It's very cool that you put an API out there, but it's is not that useful at the moment because (as far as I can see) you can only match on title words. So you can build a site that has movie title lookups, but that's about it. I wanted to do [what I would regard as] cool stuff, like trying to find the worst and best directors, most consistent directors, and so on. Just as a fun project admittedly.

I think you could get some really fun demos of the API out there if it had a bit more richness to it, but there's not much scope for creativity at the moment without a second data source.

I agree. This is a great API thus far. Adding a way to search by actor/celebrity/director would add much to the usability. I'm looking to move from my existing internet movie database source to another more reliable source. The current API gets me about 80% of what I need.

Is there an ETA on when this API might be developed? In the mean time, I'm considering doing away with the other "20%" in order to move on to this platform.

    Thanks!

    Hey...

It's been a little over a year now, and I just wanted to know if there has been anything added to the API that will allow us to search for Actor, Director or Producer?

    Please let us know.

Thanks again for the great API!
